Crack growth in Weldments under Creep/Fatigue Loading
The work in this TWA will undertake a review of the information available on cracking of weld specimens and components at high temperatures. At present there is excessive conservatism in treating weldments and residual stresses. The work programme will add emphasis to both the round robin testing as well as the predictive modelling and measurement of residual stresses in components. It is envisaged that the results from this collaboration can be incorporated quickly into existing or planned standards.
